Kenya Medical Training College - Karen is a Medical Training College located in NULL within Nairobi County.
Kenya Medical Training College - Karen is a mixed boarding school offering Diploma and Certificates and is affiliated to/with the Central Government KMTC Karen campus is located about 20 kilometers from the Nairobi city center within the serene suburb environment of Karen.
Upon Kenya s indepence, Denmark presented the government with its Karen House located on 36 acres of land.
A grant was also made for establishing on the property an Education Centre for young women. The gift was accepted by the Kenya government and soon planning of the KMTC Karen campus was on its way.
The college offers a Diploma course in Community Nutrition to both In-service and Pre-service students.
This programme was established in response to specific Nutrition Needs of the country, following a nutrition survey that was conducted from 1964 to 1968 by UNICEF/WHO/FAO and the Kenya Government.
The results of the survey revealed that there was widespread Malnutrition in the country, which required urgent attention. Consequently, training of the Nutrition Cadre was started under the ministry of health in 1968 at Karen College.
Students are taken through theory and practical work before they are attached to practical experience, three months in government hospitals and two months in Kenyatta National Hospital.
